Halloween: The Game Story Challenges & Tracking
Start with the exact chapter and challenge number. Use the focused route for Chapter 4 Challenge 6, or check whether your problem is an objective or a failed results screen.

Failure notifications in 1.1.0
Patch 1.1.0 adds a notification when a Story Mode challenge fails and reports improvements to challenge difficulty. Use the notification to identify the first failed condition before repeating a chapter. The notes do not provide revised instructions for every challenge or establish that every reported failure is fixed.
Find the challenge you are stuck on
The official progression overview describes optional challenges across six playable story chapters, with cosmetic rewards and a special look for completing all story challenges. Clearing a chapter and clearing every challenge are separate goals.
This index covers the frequently reported objectives below. It is not a catalogue of every challenge or collectible.
| Chapter / challenge | Objective in plain English | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| Prologue / 5 | Undetected escape, as described by players | Separate detection during the route from a results-screen restart; see the discussion below |
| Chapter 2 / 6 | Finish without alerting anyone | Check how the target reacts during executions; this objective received a specific 1.0.2 fix |
| Chapter 4 / 5 | Fully stalk Bob and Lynda during their living-room scene | Both targets and the scene timing matter; do not confuse this with the entire film-sequence challenge |
| Chapter 4 / 6 | Recreate the film’s plot through the chapter | Follow the community route and checkpoints |
| Chapter 5 / 6 | Destroy a police car before escaping | Check that the vehicle objective is complete before taking the exit |
The four numbered Chapter 2–5 objectives are identified in IllFonic’s September 17 update. The Prologue / 5 entry comes from a Steam player discussion, not that official list. Prologue / 5 and Prologue / 6 are different objectives.
Is the challenge impossible, or did one condition fail?
IllFonic says the story challenges are technically completable, while acknowledging that the four named objectives still cause consistent difficulty and may need adjustments. Player success reports and player failures can coexist; neither proves what happened in your run.
Before retrying, identify the earliest point where your attempt diverged:
- Confirm the chapter and the exact challenge text in your menu.
- Note whether the required target, prop or interaction appeared.
- Check whether a scripted scene advanced before you completed its objective.
- Distinguish the challenge notification from the chapter’s results screen.
- Return to chapter selection and check whether completion was actually retained.
These are diagnostic checks, not extra hidden requirements.
Which old advice may be out of date?
Patch 1.0.2 changed Prologue / 6 tracking, Chapter 2 / 6 alerts during certain executions, Lynda leaving after Bob’s death in Chapter 4 / 2, and the flashlight condition in Chapter 5 / 1. A pre-patch failure video may show one of those older behaviors.
That patch does not establish a universal solution for every challenge with the number 6. Keep the chapter number attached when searching or reporting a problem.
The chapter restarts or progress disappears
If you reach the end and encounter a crash, blank result or chapter loop, use the known-issues page. Repeating an otherwise correct route does not necessarily solve a failed save or result transition.
The detailed route currently covered here is Chapter 4 / 6. Exact rewards, complete routes for the other objectives and every collectible location are not verified in this index; use the in-game challenge list for reward wording.
