Halloween: The Game Known Issues & Patch Status
Find the developer's latest checked status for a specific symptom. A planned change is different from a released fix, and a patch claim is not a universal test result.
Last updated:
Latest checked patch: 1.1.0
Official notes reviewed October 11, 2026. Patch 1.1.0 was released October 6. The table distinguishes developer-reported fixes from unresolved player reports. A similar symptom may have a different cause.
| Symptom | Latest relevant official change |
|---|---|
| Loomis arrives and performance drops or the game crashes | 1.0.4 fixes a performance hit associated with his hair; lower-spec platforms could crash |
| Crash after a story mission or while loading a match | 1.0.4 reports fixes across platforms, with further crash work ongoing |
| Xbox Series X performance problems | 1.0.4 adjusts Performance Mode settings |
| Xbox Series S Quality/Performance toggle disappeared | Intentional in 1.0.4: one graphics profile, capped at 30 FPS, with improved textures and hair physics |
| Shape Jump or Killer Sense stays on cooldown | 1.0.3 names fixes for both permanent cooldown locks |
| Movement lost after a grab or during a vehicle/bicycle interaction | 1.0.3 names movement fixes for these situations |
| Execution continues after appearing to struggle free | 1.0.3 reports several fixes; compare the exact sequence if it persists |
| Bloodthirst 3 makes struggling unexpectedly difficult | 1.0.4 fixes an unintended effect introduced in 1.0.3 |
| Fall damage after escaping a grab on uneven ground | 1.0.4 names this correction |
| Passive Challenges look locked after Prestige | 1.1.0 fixes the locked appearance; 1.0.3 already restored progress |
| Progressive Challenges or Purely and Simply Evil do not track | 1.1.0 reports tracking fixes; exact remaining tasks still need individual checks |
| Crash during Story Mode, an execution or Xbox Quick Resume | 1.1.0 reports fixes; record the sequence if it persists |
| Spectator minigames require repeated inputs | 1.1.0 adds a toggle and passive Perk Roll progress while off |
Normal light and line-of-sight restrictions on Shape Jump still apply. A temporarily unavailable ability is not necessarily a permanent cooldown bug. For grab mechanics, use the grab and escape guide.
Challenges: distinguish a new target from a tracking fault
When a Progressive Challenge’s target was reduced and you are already above it, 1.0.3 says to gain any additional progress on that task to trigger completion. Use the selected challenge index to compare action wording and target counts.
The patch also fixes a private-match host achievement/trophy issue. It does not verify every challenge in every private-match configuration. Story objectives have their own challenge index; a failed objective and a crash at the result screen need different reports.
What is still unresolved here
The September 17 developer update mentioned rooftop Residents and several challenge difficulties. Later patch notes should replace old status only where they name the same issue. The notes above do not establish a fix for every Lynda scene deviation or Resident location problem.
A September 27 Steam report describes crashes and heartbeat failure across modes, with some proposed window/network changes reported ineffective. This is a player report with an unconfirmed build, not evidence of one universal cause or a live server outage. Record the actual error rather than treating every disconnect as a graphics crash.
Older fixes and future plans
1.0.2, September 11, reports restoring Prestige and fixing XP when leaving as a spectator. Its same-day follow-up addresses missing Weapon Prestige text and asks players to restart. See leaving a match and XP for the scope of that fix.
The September 17 melee plans have now been followed by released 1.0.3 balance changes. The early-October quality-of-life update is now released as 1.1.0. The separate October 27 content update remains scheduled; see the free and paid content checklist.

The official contact is htghelpdesk@illfonic.com. Include username, platform, device specifications, installed version, mode and the actions just before the issue. For tracking problems, add the exact task name, before/after counter and result screen. For crashes, distinguish loading, Loomis arrival, normal play and chapter results.
