The route and its limits
Chapter 4 Challenge 6 asks you to complete the chapter following the film’s plot. The route below is adapted from Shakes’ firsthand Steam guide, updated September 10, with two reader success reports on September 13. It is a community walkthrough, not a fresh playtest by this site; the guide and comments do not identify every player’s build.
IllFonic still named this challenge as a difficulty hotspot on September 17. Follow the route as one continuous attempt. The author’s warning about restarting from checkpoints is reported behavior, not a proven rule that every restart always invalidates progress.
1. Preserve Annie’s car sequence
Deal with Lester without Annie seeing it, then lock the outdoor laundry-room door while Annie is inside. Wait for her window exit and the subsequent cutscene. After the cutscene, use Shape Jump to reach and hide in the car; wait for Annie to enter and trigger the car kill.
If the laundry scene stalls, Shakes describes waiting behind the nearby corner tree and approaching the house after Annie returns inside to trigger the cutscene. Do not replace the car event with an early free-form kill.
2. Stalk Bob and Lynda, then take Bob’s glasses
When the pair enter the house, use the closet near the front door to stalk them during their living-room scene. Make sure you target both people. If Bob is difficult to select, slowly adjust your aim rather than assuming that stalking Lynda also counts for him.
Let the upstairs scene and Bob’s beer trip happen. Move to the kitchen, wait for him to face the fridge, and approach from behind. Reach Stalk level 3 on Bob, use the kitchen wall-pinning execution, then take his glasses from the body.
3. Use the sheet and Lynda’s phone interaction
The guide locates the sheet in the first room on the right at the top of the stairs. Equip it, stand at Lynda’s bedroom doorway and stalk her to level 3. Wait until she is on the phone, let her speak briefly, then grab her and use the telephone execution.
The author then hides the bodies before the Laurie sequence. The guide does not establish a universal hidden checklist of body positions. It recommends preparing the sheet-room door and light to avoid detection, and closing that room before Laurie arrives because of a reported window-escape problem. These are route precautions, not independently proven extra challenge conditions.
4. Follow Laurie’s two closet scenes
Return to the front-door closet and stalk Laurie to level 3 in the living room. Follow her upstairs. When she discovers the bodies and screams, grab her; her escape from this grab is expected in the reported route.
Follow her across the street to her house and through the next scenes:
- Pull her out of the downstairs closet and strike her once, following this author’s successful sequence.
- Follow her to the upstairs red-room closet and pull her out.
- Let her finish standing, then grab her to trigger the retaliatory scene.
Shakes reports receiving the challenge completion at that retaliatory scene. The single strike is a demonstrated instruction in this route, not proof that no other successful sequence exists. Continue through the chapter’s results and check the challenge menu rather than relying only on a momentary notification.
When something goes wrong
| Problem | Check before repeating the whole route |
|---|---|
| Sheet cannot be equipped | Did you take Bob’s glasses? A September 16 reader traced their problem to this omission |
| Bob or Lynda advances too early | Check the scene order and target-specific Stalk level; don’t substitute an unrelated kill |
| Grab misses after the second closet | Let Laurie fully stand before grabbing, as the author advises |
| Steps appear correct but no completion | Record which interaction last differed; success reports do not rule out a tracking problem in your run |
| Results crash or the chapter repeats | Check known issues; treat a failed result transition separately from an incorrect route |
If the glasses are collected and the sheet is still unavailable, the guide itself leaves open the possibility of a bug. There is no verified universal fix here, and no basis to promise that a particular difficulty or switching every light off guarantees completion.
Lynda leaves the expected sequence
September 28 reports describe Lynda failing to join the sofa scene or moving through unrelated routines. Another same-day thread describes her reacting during Bob’s death. These are player reports with unconfirmed builds, not new required steps for the route below.
If this happens, note the last scene that played normally, whether Bob and Lynda were both stalked, and where and how Bob died. Do not continue assuming the phone sequence is ready when Lynda has already departed from it. Community suggestions about kitchen positioning, checkpoint restarts and cutscene skipping change several factors at once; none is a verified universal fix. Keep these failures separate from forgetting Bob’s glasses or missing Laurie’s timing.
