Halloween: The Game Items, Keys & Starting Gear
Identify the item you found, check its intended interaction, and avoid confusing starting gear with match loot.

Item availability after 1.1.0
Patch 1.1.0 reduces Bolt Cutter, Gas Can and Escape Key spawns, increases Fuse spawns and spreads escape items out. It also changes Pocket Knife locations and makes its minigame scale with Stalk and Bloodthirst. Missing an item in one house is not proof that none spawned. Read the exit’s remaining requirements before moving followers.
Everyday items and their uses
This reference combines the official multiplayer overview with NickNasty’s item-menu narration, 00:19 to 01:19. Video details describe the shown build; current quantities, durations and balance values have not been independently tested. The table uses the English inventory names so you can match them to the menu.
| Item | Use described in the video | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Health Spray | Restores a small amount of health | Do not assume it restores full health |
| First Aid Kit | Listed as a starting-item option | Its exact healing amount is not given in this narration |
| Repair Kit | Repair a broken phone or power lines | Identify which system is disabled; a phone line and a building’s power supply are different targets |
| Pop | A stamina boost | Neither the exact amount nor duration is established here |
| Beer | Helps control fear | The gameplay video also shows movement difficulty while intoxicated |
| Flashlight | A light source; the gameplay presenter reports blinding Michael | Light is useful but is not immunity to Michael’s abilities |
| Pocket Knife | Escape from Michael’s grab in the gameplay video | This does not prevent weapon attacks or guarantee survival |
| Baseball, Flare Gun, Joint | Named in the starting-item menu | Complete effects and consumption rules need inventory-text verification |
For the Pocket Knife interaction, see Civilian Gameplay at 08:35 to 09:33. The presenter uses several knives over the video; that does not establish a guaranteed spawn rate or a recommended inventory limit. Do not assume every small blade has the same grab-escape function.
Keys and objective items
| What you found | Next check | Evidence limit |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle keys | Read the exact key name and the vehicle prompt | At 39:18, the player reads “Wrong key for vehicle”; the transcript does not identify the correct car |
| Padlock Key | Check the lock’s prompt before using it | A bike lock is mentioned at 09:33; we have not confirmed whether the same key opens other padlocks |
| Fuse | Find a prompt that requests a fuse | The installation interaction is discussed at 11:47, without a complete successful escape sequence |
| Bolt Cutters or locker code | Read every step on the container | At 27:11 and 34:41, the presenter gives conflicting explanations of whether you need one or both; the complete requirement is unverified |
| Gas | Identify the vehicle and all listed requirements | Do not assume fuel alone makes a vehicle ready |
Items and possible exits vary between matches. This page does not promise fixed spawns. A key icon or an unlocked route is only part of the NPC rescue process.
Using, throwing and replacing items
Before a fight, check the control prompt for the object currently held. Using a consumable, making a melee attack, throwing a weapon and replacing a carried item are different actions.
At 56:45 and 1:01:31, the presenter realizes he mixed up his controls: RB attacks and RT throws in his setup. Verify your own platform and bindings instead of treating those buttons as universal. After picking up another object, check what remains in your inventory before assuming you still have a knife or repair kit.
Ancient Amulet and other rare items
An Ancient Amulet is named at 1:00:27. At 1:04:12, the presenter still says he does not know its effect. We have not confirmed its effect, location or connection to detaining Michael.
Starting gear versus loot
An unlock can let you bring an item at the start of a match. That is separate from finding the item while playing. Use the progression and unlock reference to compare reported starting requirements, and the weapons guide for combat context. Inventory capacities, spawn chances and exact item values remain unverified here.
Another place to check for escape items
If container searches are not producing the item you need, talk to residents while advancing the rescue objective. Like, Zoinks!’s firsthand Steam guide, updated September 18, reports that these conversations can award escape items, including Fuses, Bolt Cutters and Escape Keys. The author also reports an associated exit being revealed.
This is a community-tested option, not a guaranteed drop or a measured spawn probability. Check your inventory after the conversation and read the revealed exit’s requirements. The guide’s amended wording includes ordinary residents as well as Special Targets; do not assume the reward is exclusive to gold targets.
