Halloween: The Game Progressive Challenge Targets
Look up selected character, Michael and Hatchet challenges. Distinguish the required action from the target count before repeating a grind.

Reading this index after 1.1.0
Patch 1.1.0 reports challenge improvements and tracking fixes, without publishing a replacement target table. The 36 entries below remain a sourced selection from 1.0.3. Compare them with the exact task in your current menu; record the version, mode, target type and before/after counter if they disagree. Do not assume similarly named weapon challenges have the same condition.
Check the action, then the counter
This index covers 36 selected Progressive Challenges adjusted in Patch 1.0.3, including tasks involving grabs, rescues, knockdowns and the Hatchet. It is not the complete challenge or reward catalogue. The targets come from the official September 22 notes; the September 26 1.0.4 notes do not list another challenge-target adjustment.
Choose the relevant character, Michael variant or weapon and check the active task in your menu. Progressive Challenges are sequential; this selection does not show the full prerequisite chain. Jump to the searchable list.
Already above the new target?
IllFonic says that players whose progress already exceeds a reduced target need to gain any further progress on that objective to trigger completion. Perform one qualifying action, then check the counter and completion state. Repeating an unrelated action will not test this rule.
Passive Challenges continue progressing after Prestige. Patch 1.1.0 also fixes their locked appearance in the menu. 1.1.0 See the Prestige guide before resetting a track.
Similar wording, different requirements
| Task wording | What to check |
|---|---|
| Struggle free / use a defensive item | Rachel’s Not Afraid and Ward Off Evil describe different actions. Do not assume a Pocket Knife escape advances both |
| Knock Michael off his feet / land the final blow | Thomas’s Linebacker and MVP have different descriptions; check the named outcome |
| Contribute without the final blow | Rachel’s Hexed Strike excludes landing that final blow. The notes do not settle every assist-credit edge case |
| Activate a noisemaker | Bait and Switch requires Michael to destroy or switch off the device you activated; simply activating it is not the whole task |
| Arm a Resident | Helping Hand requires the armed Resident or Special Target to free a grabbed victim or down Michael; handing over the weapon alone is insufficient |
| Break a door or window | Splintered Terror counts victims scared by the destruction, not a quota of broken doors |
| Save Residents and escape | Thomas’s Leave No One Behind needs at least three rescues and your own escape in the same match |
These are interpretations of the published task descriptions, not a new set of independently tested tracking rules. For rescue checks, use the NPC rescue guide.
If a valid attempt does not count
Record the exact task, character or weapon, game version, platform, match type and the counter before and after the attempt. Keep the result screen as well. A changed objective, a missed condition and a tracking fault can look similar.
Patch 1.0.3 fixes a private-match host achievement/trophy problem. That does not establish that every Progressive Challenge counts for every participant in every private match. Private-match eligibility, full reward chains and some assist-credit conditions remain unverified here. Use known issues for dated patch status, and story challenges for chapter objectives.
